Freeform has given a two season renewal to drama The Bold Type.
The Bold Type based on the life of Joanna Coles, chief content officer of Hearst and former editor in chief of Cosmopolitan Magazine, the series follows the lives of three close friends living in New York City as they navigate their career, sexuality, identity and ultimately find their own voice in a sea of intimidating leaders. Global women’s magazine, “Scarlet,” serves as the backdrop for the series – with Melora Hardin as Jacqueline, their boss and mentor, this rising generation of unapologetically fierce women are primed to take on the world and smash the patriarchy.
The one potential issue is that there will be a new showrunner in the form of Amanda Lasher will become the new showrunner, taking over for series creator Sarah Watson. Lasher was previously the showrunner on the acclaimed MTV series Sweet/Vicious.
The Bold Type stars Jane Sloan, Aisha Dee as Kat Edison, Meghann Fahy as Sutton Brady, Sam Page as Richard Hunter, Matt Ward as Alex Crawford and Melora Hardin as Jacqueline, editor-in- chief of Scarlet Magazine.
