ABC announced Thursday the network’s long running drama ‘Castle’ would be ending at the end of season eight.
ABC producers were facing a deadline to make a decision due to the approaching season finale. Two separate endings were filmed to prepare a series finale and a season finale that would allow for another cycle. Producers had also considered having a shorter season but in the end the decision was made to end the series.
Loyal ‘Castle’ fans were shocked when ABC recently announced lead Stana Katic ‘Kate Beckett’ and co-star Tamala Jones ‘Lanie Parish’ were being written out of the show to cut costs. Reports indicated the majority of cast and crew were also very surprised by the news. Nathan Fillion ‘Richard Castle’ was scheduled to return and had signed a contract for another season.
May 16 will be the final episode of the series.
