Disney are at it again this time they are in the early stages of adapting the Hunchback of Notre Dame as a live action film.
Playwright David Henry Hwang is attached to write the script, with Mandeville Films and Josh Gad set to produce. Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz will pen the music. Originally a novel by Victor Hugo published in 1831, Hunchback tells the story of the bell-ringer at the Notre Dame Cathedral and his friendship with the gypsy Esmeralda. The property has been adapted for film and TV several times with Disney’s animated version being a notable one earning $325 million worldwide.
