If you haven’t already seen it, Taylor Swift released City of Lover Concert this past Sunday, May 17, and I have deemed it the best thing to happen in pop culture in all of 2020. I also would like to formally state here that I am probably Taylor Swift’s number 1 fan. Some people might argue with me, but whatever, they are wrong.

As I do, I’ve been listening to a lot of Taylor Swift lately, which made me think: “If I had to choose my top 5 songs from the album Lover, what would they be?”. So, this is an article of me highlighting the top 5 songs from Lover.

“Death By a Thousand Cuts”

There’s just something about this song that instantly drew me in. When I first listened to the album, this was my favorite song immediately. If I had to choose, like really had to choose, this would be the song I gave to someone who asked which song was my number one on this album. I was very happy when she chose to sing it during the City of Lover Concert.

“The Man”

Um, obviously. Female anthems are kind of my jam, and this one is no different. Top it off with an awesome music video, and Taylor Swift has created another song that empowers women of all ages everywhere. If this song doesn’t make you want to strut down the street and flip your hair, then I don’t know what will.

“Lover”

I once saw a tweet that was something along the lines of someone wanting this as their wedding song, but not getting married any time soon. That tweet spoke to my soul. “Lover” would be the perfect song to have your first dance to. Future husband, this is nonnegotiable. It’s such a sweet song.

“ME!”

This song is so unapologetic, which I adore! I love that Taylor Swift pushes us to be ourselves, even embracing the quirky side. Again, this is another song that makes me want to sing out loud, but I won’t because I’m an adult, and we don’t live in a musical. Also, I LOVED this music video so much. It was probably one of my top Taylor Swift music video. It’s just a fun and catchy song.

“Cruel Summer”

Everyone needs a summer song, and I feel like this is THE summer song. I can’t explain it — I just know that this song is a jam. If we could get a music video to this song, it would be real cool.

Don’t forget to watch City of Lover Concert on Hulu or Disney Plus! Seriously, it will be sure to brighten your day and make you love Taylor Swift more than you already do. What are you favorite Taylor Swift songs?
