Hulu is finalizing deals for pilot orders to Citizen, a supernatural drama from Me and Earl and The Dying Girl director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, and When the Street Lights Go On, adapted from the Black List feature script by writers Chris Hutton and Eddie OKeefe, sources say. Both projects hail from Paramount Television and Anonymous Content and stem from the two companies first-look deal.
Created, written and executive produced by Gomez-Rejon, Josh Pate and ?Nicholas Schutt, Citizen is described as a fresh take on the hero origin story blending elements of magical realism and gritty vigilantism set against the backdrop of a vibrant, supernaturalized Los Angeles. Anonymous Contents David Kanter, Matt DeRossand Steve Golin also executive produce.
Hutton and OKeefes When the Street Lights Go On screenplay ranked second on the 2011 Black List behind The Imitation Game. A few months later, Anonymous Content came on board to produce the feature with documentary helmer Brett Morgen (The Kid Stays in the Picture) set to direct. Morgan is still attached and will direct the pilot. He, Hutton and OKeefe (Shangri-La Suite) executive produce alongside Anonymous Contents Chad Hamilton, Tariq Merhab, Michael Sugar and Steve Golin.
