LUKE CAGE Joins IRON FIST As Netflix Announces Cancellation

Marvel’s Luke Cage is over as it stands with Netflix announces the show’s cancellation just days after a very similar cancellation announcement for Marvel’s Iron Fist.

Netflix and Marvel Television released a joint statement on the cancellation of the show after two seasons:

“Unfortunately, Marvel’s Luke Cage will not return for a third season. Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem’s Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series.”

There is a lot of discussion over what this means for the Marvel/Netflix collaboration but we do know Marvel’s Jessica Jones and Punisher are likely to air their new seasons as the filming has either been completed or is ongoing.

With Disney’s streaming service on the horizon there was a question as to how much longer they would allow the high profile Marvel/Netflix mini universe to continue especially with the announcement of the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe TV spinoff projects.
