Michael Gandolfini Set To Play Young Tony Soprano In THE MANY SAINTS OF NEWARK


Michael Gandolfini the son of the late James Gandolfini is set to play the character who made his father a household name.

Gandolfini had the following to say, “It’s a profound honor to continue my dad’s legacy while stepping into the shoes of a young Tony Soprano. I’m thrilled that I am going to have the opportunity to work with David Chase and the incredible company of talent he has assembled for The Many Saints of Newark.”

James Gandolfini played Tony Soprano on HBO’s The Sopranos which ran from 1999 to 2007. The show went on to win 5 Golden Globes and 5 Primetime Emmys as well as dozens of other awards.

Series creator David Chase co-wrote the script with producer Lawrence Konner. Plot details are under wraps. Some of the other characters from the series besides Tony Soprano will appear in the movie.
