Disney and Lucasfilm have revealed plans for an all new Star Wars Trilogy to be initially written by Rian Johnson.

While these will be a Star Wars story there will be no links to the Skywalker family and it will be set in a new galaxy. Johnson and Ram Bergman, his longtime collaborator will be working on the story.

“We all loved working with Rian on The Last Jedi,” said Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, on the website. “He’s a creative force, and watching him craft The Last Jedi from start to finish was one of the great joys of my career. Rian will do amazing things with the blank canvas of this new trilogy.”

Speculation of when and where this will be set has been intense since the news initially dropped.
