New York Comic Con rolled out the red carpet to Outlander this past weekend and the fans who attended loved every minute of it. To help build the excitement for season 4, Starz re-created Jamie and Claire’s home at Fraser’s Ridge for fans to explore, take pictures in and generally fawn over. There were giveaways, such as a chance to get autographs from Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe, Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin and swag (tote bags, leather luggage tags embossed with your initials, and fragrances made from essential oils). While in line, we admired the Outlander cosplay and perused the Entertainment Weekly magazines featuring Jamie or Claire on the cover. If that had been all there was, it would have been enough. But wait! There’s more.
Outlander TV series developer, Ronald D. Moore, was the focus of a “master class” interview on Friday. While the interview covered Moore’s entire and extensive career, there was a lot about Outlander which, he says, was not a huge departure from his previous work in science fiction. Moore’s work includes extensive writing on Star Trek: The Next Generation and Battlestar Gallactica. It was a fascinating conversation with a man whose creativity and open mind has expanded the thinking and experience of so many people.
I mentioned that a few lucky fans won the lottery and were able to get autographs but everyone was eligible to attend a Saturday morning interview with SyFy Wire.
Our fearless foursome looked rested, relaxed and ready to spend their day with their many, many fans.
The highlight of Saturday was certainly the Outlander panel where fans saw Heughan, Balfe, Skelton and Rankin but were also treated to an exclusive showing of the first episode of the new season! And to top that, Diana Gabaldon herself joined the panel. Here is a small glimpse into the new season with the opening credits. If you have been watching you know that the credits change to mirror the story that will be told during the season. Enjoy!
I was able to get some Outlander swag I would like to give to one lucky reader. If you would like a chance to win the Outlander totebag, fragrance and Entertainment Weekly magazines, leave me a comment of what you are most looking forward to in season 4. I’ll double your entry if you subscribe to our YouTube page and tell me the name you subscribed under.
