Paul Rudd (Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame) is in talks for a role in the upcoming Ghostbusters 2020.
The film will be directed by Jason Reitman the son of Ivan Reitman who directed the original film. Sony has not revealed many details about the film but apparently if Rudd signs on the dotted line he will play a teacher.
The film is said to connect to the original movies and is focused around a single mom and her family. Carrie Coon (Widows), Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) and McKenna Grace (Gifted) are also in negotiations to join the production and would play mother and son.
Reitman had this to say about Paul Rudd:
“I’ve been wanting to work with Paul Rudd since my short film opened for ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ at Sundance. I’m thrilled he’ll be joining this new chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe.”
Reitman co-wrote the screenplay with Gil Kenan and plans to shoot the film later this summer. Ghostbusters 2020 is expected to hit theatres in summer of next year.
