A shakeup of the DC Film Expanded Universe framework was viewed by many as inevitable but the details emerging today are somewhat surprising.
Henry Cavill will not reprise his role as Superman as Warner Bros look to focus their efforts behind a new Supergirl film. This film would seemingly be set around the Kryptonian’s escape from Krypton as a teenager the same time a baby Kal-El (Superman) was sent off to Earth.
“While no decisions have been made regarding any upcoming Superman films, we’ve always had great respect for and a great relationship with Henry Cavill, and that remains unchanged,” a Warner Bros spokesperson added today.
There also seems to be unconfirmed reports that Ben Affleck will be dropping the cowl and leaving his role as Batman.
So do you think a new Supergirl in the DCEU might improve its fortunes? I’m excited by the prospect.
