TNT has ordered an adaption of The Angel of Darkness the sequel to The Alienist which will see stars Daniel Brühl, Luke Evans and Dakota Fanning returning.
After the success of The Alienist, it was the top new cable series for 18-49 year olds TNT has decided to adapt the second book in the Alienist series by Caleb Carr – The Angel of Darkness.
A gripping, turn-of-the-century murder mystery amidst the underbelly of New York City’s “Gilded Age,” The Alienist follows Dr. Laszlo Kreizler (Brühl), a brilliant and obsessive “alienist” in the controversial new field of treating mental pathologies. In the first series, Kreizler was relentless in his pursuit of a never-before-seen ritualistic killer murdering young boys. He was joined by newspaper illustrator John Moore (Evans) and Sara Howard (Fanning), an ambitious secretary determined to become the city’s first female police detective.
