Tom Welling (Lucifer) is set to reprise his role as Clark Kent in the upcoming Crisis On Infinite Earths.
Welling is well known for his role as Clark Kent in Smallville which charted Superman’s origins. As soon as details began to emerge on the multi-universe nature of the crossover speculation began about whether or not Welling could be tempted into making an appearance. It is no secret that the actor had been keen to keep the role in his past.
Crisis on Infinite Earths will run through Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman – in a five-episode epic that will air in two chunks. Three episodes will air in December and the two concluding will be released in January.
Arrow co-creator/executive producer Marc Guggenheim had this to say about getting Tom Welling’s casting:
“For eight years, Arrow has stood on the shoulders of Smallville. Simply put, there would be no Arrow, and no Arrowverse, without it. So when we first started talking about Crisis on Infinite Earths, our first, second and third priorities were getting Tom to reprise his iconic role as Clark Kent. To say that we’re thrilled would be a Superman-sized understatement.”
