Summary:

Could you choose between love and safety? 17-year-old Lena Haloway is faced with that decision after a lifetime of believing that love is a disease. Amor deliria nervosa, the “deadliest of all deadly things”, is considered an infection, one that will kill you if it spreads. But after meeting an intriguing stranger, Alex Warren, Lena begins to question what exactly the government is protecting her from.

Reviewer Thoughts:

Wrought with rich imagery, compelling characters, and a thought provoking premise, Lauren Oliver paints a realistic teenage experience fraught with both the choices every youth must make as well as those put onto her by her world. A gripping novel from beginning to end, I’d highly recommend this to any fan of dystopias, romances, or young adult novels in general.
